What Allison's Kitchen is
A family cookbook app. It exists so households can keep recipes, plan meals, build grocery lists, and share with the people they choose. It is not an advertising business.
What we collect
Your account details (email, name, and a display handle; the handle is the web address your public cook page would live at, if you ever switch one on), and the content you create: recipes, photos, voice memos you record on a recipe, meal plans, grocery lists, notes, comments, and reactions. If you import a recipe from a link or video, we fetch that page or video to extract the recipe. Sign-in with Google or Apple shares only your name and email with us. We also collect basic performance measurements (which kind of screen loaded and how fast) to keep the app quick; these are aggregate counts with no account, household, or device attached — never the contents of your recipes, and never individual browsing.
If you ask to join the list
Allison's Kitchen is invite-only while it's young. If you ask for access from the landing page, we store the email you give us, and an optional name and short note, so we can send your invite. That's the only reason we keep it. Requests are answered by a person, usually within a day or two, and we'll only ever email you about getting in. We don't sell it, share it with anyone, or use it for anything else. Ask us and we'll remove you from the list at any time.
What we do with it
Store it so your household can use it. Everything you keep here starts private to your household, and sharing is a switch your family flips, not something that happens to you. Publish a recipe from its share menu and anyone with the link can open it; it also appears on your kitchen's public page and is offered to search engines, which also receive a machine-readable copy of the same public information. A published recipe also shows public tallies: how often your kitchen has made it, and saves and likes from visitors. Prefer to share the whole cookbook? One switch publishes the library and each new recipe as it's saved, and turning it off unpublishes everything, even recipes you published one at a time. Two more switches can add recent cooking (dates and dish names) and pantry staples to your kitchen's page. Each member has their own switch for a public cook page that stays off until they turn it on. The kitchen page itself shows your household's name, handle, the line you write for it, and its follower count. Everything else stays private to your household. To provide features, a few third parties process the content you submit, and nothing more: AI services (Anthropic, Google) extract and organize recipe content; when you import a TikTok video, its URL is sent to a third-party downloader service (RapidAPI) to fetch the video for extraction; and error reports (via Sentry) help us fix crashes and may include technical details about your device, never your recipes. There is no third-party analytics: we removed it rather than describe it here.
What we never do
No ads. No selling or sharing data with data brokers. No tracking you across other apps or sites. No AI training on your family's content.
Where it lives
Data is stored with Supabase (database and file storage) and served through Vercel, over encrypted connections.
Your controls
Export everything anytime (Settings → Export: full JSON backup or a printable cookbook PDF). Delete recipes anytime (at least 7-day trash, then gone). Delete your whole account yourself at Settings → Account. It's immediate and permanent: if you're the only member, your kitchen and everything in it is removed; if your family remains, your seat and profile are removed and the kitchen stays with them. Encrypted backups of the database are kept for up to 90 days in case of disaster, so a deleted kitchen can still exist in those copies until they roll off; they are only ever used to bring the service back, never to look anything up. Copies of recipes other kitchens saved stay theirs, and you can always email us instead.
Children
Accounts are for adults; kid profiles inside a household are just names and meal reactions entered by their parents. They never appear on any public page, and no setting exists that would put them there.
